RESUME of the Author and Proponent, Marlowe Camello, of The “People Empowerment Initiative” to create the Philippine Jury Systems (Up-dated as of November 20, 2010)

MARLOWE CAMELLO was born in Malaybalay, Bukidnon, on January 17, 1935, the eldest son of the late couple, Cornelio A. Camello of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, and Basilia Onda of Maluku, Bukidnon - both school teachers until World War II when they both died while he was at age 7.

He finished his elementary education in Barangay Agusan, Cagayan De Oro City in 1951. Took his first year high school at Holy Cross High School in Del Monte, Bukidnon and finished his high school studies at Kibawe Institute (now defunct), Kibawe, Bukidnon in 1955.

He obtained his bachelors degree in Commerce in 1962 and later obtained his law degree in 1967 both at Notre Dame University, Cotabato City, Philippines.

He was a working student in all his years in high school and in college.

He is a registered member of the Philippine Bar. He took his Philippine lawyer’s oath before the Philippine Supreme Court on March 4, 1968 and briefly practiced law in Cotabato City from 1968 through 1972. He is the uncle of the current Court of Appeals Justice Edgardo Camello and the cousin of the late late Con-Con Delegate and retired Regional Trial Judge of Sultan Kudarat, Macario Camello.

He migrated to California, United States, in late 1972. He was admitted to the California Bar on April 25, 1979. He is currently an active law practitioner in said State from which he gained much deeper insight on the concept of the grand jury and trial jury systems. He is now a citizen of the United States.

If the Jury System is adopted in the Philippines, Marlowe Camello would be glad to answer any consultation to help implement the system for free. He can be reached by any concerned Filipino on the subject, public officials or private citizens alike including members of grand juries, trial lawyers, judges and justices. He still loves the land and people of his birth. He can be reached by email at MCamello@verizon.net.

Otherwise, he calls himself a mere simple person with no flair for publicity.
